This spring, we wrote that everything beautiful above the surface begins with strong, though invisible, roots. Today, we can confirm: the roots have grown!
Over the past few months, with the support of our “New Roots” program, Ukrainian communities in Poland have been organizing integration events for people with refugee experience: Polish language courses, creative workshops for children and youth, community-building activities.
Through 10 such events, more than 250 people learned Polish, gained practical knowledge about daily life in Poland, found their way in a new reality, and -most importantly - built relationships that help them feel part of a community.
The words of one participant of the Polish language course at the church in Orzesze say it best:
“During the course, our group worked at the whiteboard, with video materials, and a textbook. We also had conversations with the teacher, which helped us correct language mistakes. The teacher was very approachable and encouraging. A course like this is very helpful for everyday life.”
All of this was made possible thanks to the support of our donors. Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible for those who left their homes behind to put down New Roots in Poland now.
